What is Call Detail Recording?

Call detail record whether using a PBX system or IP PBX(VoIP)  system, most telephone networks Shows the call details record that includes time, date ,call duration, dialed number, caller ID and calling destination.
The benefits of CDR is to control call management  expenses used by accounting
departments in an organization for both local and long distance calls, and to monitor calls usage for the benefit of  the organization to ensure your employees are not making too much personal calls.

In PBXs Call Detail records are the output data by a serial link  port called Station Message Detail Recording Port(SMDR) which tracks all the incoming and outgoing calls for each extension. These data are available at the end of the call or in some PBXs these data appear during the call.

However, for companies working in fields of call centers, telesales  or telemarketing and depending too much on telephony business will  have less benefits of using CDR.
